Tara Useller

Seamstress

Like so many children of the 1970?s I was born to a family of women who never lost their creative bug. My great grandmothers quilted and crocheted and knitted, my grandmothers knitted and excelled in flower arranging, my mother crocheted and cooked to beat the band. It’s probably no wonder, then, that I’m not one of those artists who always knew what I wanted to do with my hands. I baked, I sewed potholders, I painted, I crocheted, but no single skill commanded life-long attention or demanded I go to art school and study the use of colour and negative space.
